For now we are just going to list products, events, etc., short descriptions and website addresses. As we get larger and more sophisticated, expect some searching and ratings to develop. Hope you enjoy.
Uptown Soda Bread Company - Interesting selection from sweet to savory. Chocolate chip and raisen were very good. None of the "soda' taste that can be a little annoying. the Bacon Cheddar needs some work. Not quite savory enough. I made a suggestion to the owner/founder and we will see if she decides to try some herbs or incorporate some blue cheese to punch up the flavor a bit. For now, limited distribution. Hand batches are made. Find out more at http://www.uptownsodabread.com/ 09/19/11
COFFEE - Barrista Girl Coffee - A boutique husband and wife coffee team that has developed their own custom roasts. Mmmm, delicious. They also install high end expresso machines. I especially liked their Timor (BG Gentle Java), an organic, free trade coffee. www.BaristaGirlCoffee.com 09/07/11
WINE - VineyardFresh - When you have an open bottle of wine and want to make sure it stays fresh, use VineyardFresh. Great for home use as it allows you more flexibility in what you drink, and for restaurants, wine by the glass anyone? My brother is a partner in the firm and I have helped at a few events. www.vineyardfresh.com - 09/07/11
Team Building by Cooking? So you want to do some team building. You think that doing a cooking program, ala Iron Chef, is a good idea. The Chopping Block in
the Merchandise Mart (chicago) offers a program where you divide into two teams, get a chef each, some helpers and the same proteins (in our case pork loin and
chicken). You square off, cook with a reasonable time limit and a non-participating chef judges the appetizer and entree created. STOP. Combine competitive
personalities, with a two team format and a winner... Talk about a team building disaster. Don't do it!!! Leave the competition to just that, competition. I have
a better idea for a program, but it was suggested that I package it up and make a business of it. I am thinking about it. Drop me a note if you want my advice.
